ModulR TS Inc. was founded in 1998 to answer a need in the roofing industry.

Modified bitumen roofing had become very popular. However, there were many concerns, not the least of which was safety, which were applicable to both asphalt and torch applied systems.

With asphalt-applied systems, there was the danger of kettle fires, or hot asphalt spills, and environmental concerns, to say nothing of the odours associated with this product. Torching of course, especially of the base ply, was full of risk – flames penetrating down into the building while torching parapets, and curbs, and wood, and fibreboard cant strip and insulation catching fire. The fire often not detected until the roofing crew had left for the day.

Years of experimentation, trial and testing led to the birth of ModulR TS Inc. and it's line of torch safe products. With ProtecR came peace of mind for the torching of modified bitumen membranes. The insulation, cant strips, drain sumps, and even the parapets could now all be made torch safe, without the asphalt kettle and it's associated concerns.
